Bali Organic Natural Kintamani Special Prep

$4.85

Organic, Natural (Dry) process coffee produced by smallholder farmers inhabiting fertile volcanic highland areas in the heart of the Indonesian island of Bali.

In a trip to the Island in July of 2009, the importer visited some of the Subak Abians. Noticing the scarcity of groundwater due to the soil being so volcanic, the importer suggested that the farmers try a full natural process as well. Given that raised beds were already being used for drying parchment, it was an easy step to use them for drying whole ripe cherry. They did a test separation of one table and sent the importer a sample. The importer cupped it and were so blown away they decided to buy a full container (over 40,000 lbs.).

Cupping Notes:Unique and intriguing cup. The fruit starts off cherries, with good darker and deeper flavored notes holding it down, and then morphs into a big brandy-fruit note as the cup cools. At times, the body left a tingly feel on the tongue, with a buttery thickness. The cup improves as it cools, with different nuances coming out. Pulls a wicked single-origin shot.
