Sumatran coffees capture the jungle essence of this tropical Indonesian island. This coffee exhibits all of the characteristics we love to find in a triple-pick Mandheling deep, rich, clean full-bodied coffee with lower acidity, a slight earthy note and big chocolate. Some triple-picks can lose the jungle character of the island, but this coffee keeps just enough earth to go with the big chocolate and heavy body.
Cupping Notes: Clean (for a Sumatra), but not too clean. Big chocolate, mossy earth notes, hints of pepper and the slightest hint of butterscotch in the finish. Java-like qualities, but with a bit more spice and earth character. The sweet and bittersweet notes pull all the flavors together as the cup moves from hot to cool. Works well in the vacuum pot, with the cup holding interest even when lukewarm.
