The Hottop electric drum coffee roaster is designed for the home roaster looking for larger batch sizes than air roasters. It offers more control than most roasters, an external cooling cycle, and robust construction. The roaster behaves similar to a commercial machine; in fact, some professional roasters use the Hottop as a sample roaster. The nominal batch size is 227-250g (8-9 oz.) of green beans.
The Hottop Model KN-8288B supports automated and manual control roasting and allows for full manual control of the heater (10% power increments) and fan (25% increments) during the roast. The user selects final target temperature and total roast time, both of which can also be modified during the roast.

The KN-8288B is exactly the same roaster as the KN-8288P, except for the control panel. We have experience using both roasters--the "P" model allows for excellent repeatability on roast profiles, at the expense of manual control of the fan and heater during the roast. The "B" model allows precise control of fan and heater during the roast, but does not allow for building a profile in advance (it only saves completed roast profiles). Our best analogy is that the "P" is like a car with automatic transmission, and the "B" is a car with manual transmission. Both control systems produce excellent roasts.
